Construction of a new oil mill for even more fine drops of extra virgin olive oil

This is the last year of our first olive oil mill. Following the 2019 harvest, with an emphasis on the absolute quality of our extra virgin olive oil production, we announce 2020 as a major turning point for our production!

To meet the high demand for our olive oils, in September 2019, we began the construction of the new Nono Remiđo oil mill on new land, produced by the specialised Italian manufacturer MORI-TERM SRL. With the new oil mill come new opportunities, one of which is increased processing capacity, which will rise from the current 500 kg/h of our existing oil mill to an impressive 1,000 kg/h.

With our new oil mill, we are also introducing argon as a neutral gas that protects olives during processing and in storage tanks from oxygen. It is significantly better for oil processing than nitrogen, as argon has a significantly higher density and thus better protects the oil from oxidation. We know that no one likes to wait a long time, and it's the same with olives – another important element for preserving quality during processing is rapid processing within just a few hours of harvesting, as waiting 12 or more hours for processing degrades the olive fruit and leads to undesirable oxidation.

We'll keep the technical details to ourselves until the opening, but we will boast that our new Nono Remiđo oil mill will have two de-canting machines (horizontal oil separators) as well as two vertical separators for further processing and clarification of the oil instead of filtration.

The 400 square metre oil mill will feature an enclosed space for olive storage, sufficient for all planned activities, an oil storage area, and a laboratory. The oil mill itself will be equipped for testing the produced oils, as well as for hosting interested groups for tours – all of you who wish to visit the oil mill and thus taste our fine oils!

The completion of construction is expected in the summer of 2020, and the oil mill will start production for the harvest at the end of September 2020, when it will be ready to provide olive oil production services to other family farms wishing to turn their freshly picked olives into liquid gold.

Our new oil mill is co-financed through the Rural Development Programme.

2020 will be a truly fruitful year for us!
